Habilitas
Habilitas were in need of a website that met the high standards for accessibility that their business already had.
The client
Habilitas is a registered NDIS provider specialising in designing, developing and maintaining special disability accommodation (SDA) for people with special needs, supported by the NDIS. Habilitas previously had a website made in SquareSpace and needed a website which was more accessible to their specific target audience.
The research
Mintyy started this project with an exensive discovery phase, delving into their target audience and what the website should prioritise for this group of higher needs individuals. We delved deep into researching their audience, competitors and stakeholder opinions, mapping out current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. We prioritised specific audiences by mapping users against their value to Habilitas and the cost of delaying this specific audience. These results led to a more purpose driven website, specifically focused on creating a hub for resources that their audience can use to gain information about Habilitas.
The solution
The outcome of our research was that a hub of information for clients was most important, which resulted in a Resources page being the primary focus for the website. To utilise this hub with a focus on usability, we decided that implementing a search functionality was a must, which is why we decided to use Craft CMS as a content management system of choice for this project.
Accessibility first
With accessibility being paramount in importance, we focused on implementing accessibility features which could extend the native accessibility features found in native browsers. We built custom logic for a custom accessibility menu which allowed users to be able to manage contrast and text size. The rest of the website was built with other WCAG 2.1 guidelines in mind, ensuring we met AA accessibility standards and allowed for control of AAA standards when needed.
